Alan Shepardson
TOM: Tulane University
Biomedical Engineering
Alan is a senior studying a BSE in Biomedical Engineering and a minor in Design. Prior to entering the TOM fellowship he did research involving ventilator induced lung injury by helping develop a working model with H441 cancerous epithelial cells. Alan’s design philosophies aim to prioritize the aesthetic and functional aspects of product design to create new and accessible biomedical technologies for economically disadvantaged individuals. His dream job is to eventually design specialized athletic prosthetics for teams in the Paralympics as a prosthetics team design coordinator. On his off hours, Alan likes to train for long distance running, having just completed his first half-marathon recently.
